They say bad things come in threes, and sadly, that seems to be holding true for Nick Lachey. First, he and wife Jessica Simpson announce they’re getting divorced, then he signs on for a guest spot on The WB’s waaaay under-the-radar sitcom Twins, and finally, there’s the matter of his new single, ”What’s Left of Me” (now playing exclusively at AOL Music). For those of you who were hoping for a funkdafied put-down track (à la Justin Timberlake’s ”Cry Me a River”) or perhaps a sultry man-messed-up mea culpa (like Usher’s ”Confessions Part II”), you’re going to be sorely disappointed. ”What’s Left of Me” is a treacly slice of adult-contemporary balladry, made soggy by clichéd lyrics and a vocal performance that’s only a degree or two away from late-’90s boy-band piffle. Then again, it beats the heck out of a certain blonde bombshell’s Nancy Sinatra remake — not that that’s saying much.

What do you think, PopWatchers? Am I a total Meany McCrankypants, or simply telling it like it is?
