It has been more than 20 years since a-ha amazed us with the comic book-inspired video for “Take on Me.” Though shortly thereafter they slipped from the American consciousness, they continued to make music. Their latest album, Analogue, came out late last year in Europe, but don’t expect to find it here, unless your local record store has a great import section (thanks, Virgin!). So what do they sound like after so many years? Take a bit of Jack Johnson, some Ben Folds, a pinch of New Order, some Radiohead, and, well, you get the idea. Check out the (literally) hot video for “Celice,” which will soon be heard in the movie The Da Vinci Code. The racy clip uses thermography much the way “Take on Me” used rotoscopy. Or watch the video for the mellower title track, which is graciously hosted by VH1 in the U.K.
