Craig Ferguson delivered a remarkable hour of TV on Monday’s Late Late Show when he turned his usual 15-minute comic monologue (which has made his wee-hours chatfest a must-view for me) into a eulogy for his dad, who died the day before. It was a proper Scottish wake, both funny and poignant. Then he went on to discuss big issues of life, death, and spirituality with his guests, Dr. Drew Pinsky and John Ritter’s widow Amy Yasbeck. It was a moving, wrenching, emotional hour of the kind you rarely see on TV outside of Oprah. I can’t really do justice to Ferguson’s amazing eulogy, but you can watch all 15 minutes of it at CBS’ Late Late Show website; click either the link marked ”January 30, 2006,” or the one marked ”A Tribute To His Father.”
