The Hunt Club
Wyatt Hunt is a former San Francisco Child Protective Services employee forced out of his job by a bureaucratic jerkface boss; in helping his lawyer friend bring down said jerkface, he discovers a knack for PI work. He’s got a motley crew of assistants — from a crusty, wounded cop to a girl he rescued from her neglectful mom back in his CPS days — and one totally kick-ass warehouse lair. But the case John Lescroart sets up for his first Hunt Club mystery is foggier than the Bay Area itself and so stuffed with detail that you wish someone would just get shot already. Why do crime novelists feel the need to describe every meal down to the last bit of parsley?
