We grade a trio of unusual movie trailers -- See how EW rates the teasers for ''Apocalypto,'' American Dreamz,'' and ''Marie Antoinette''
APOCALYPTO (opens summer 2006) Plot Apparently, the world is ending and a Mayan guy is being chased by a panther and angry, torch-wielding natives. Star Value Zilch, except for director Gibson. Huh? On close inspection, Mad Max himself can be seen in a brief shot, grinning next to cast members. Crazyometer 5 (out of 5)
AMERICAN DREAMZ (April 14) Plot Paul Weitz (About a Boy) satirizes politics, terrorism, and American Idol. Star Value Dennis Quaid, Hugh Grant, Mandy Moore. Huh? The president (Quaid) acting as a guest judge on some Idol rip-off? Paula Abdul getting elected to the Supreme Court feels more plausible. Crazyometer 4 (out of 5)
MARIE ANTOINETTE (opens fall 2006) Plot Sofia Coppola’s take on the titular legend’s relationship with Louis XVI. Star Value Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman in big wigs and lots of powder. Alas, no Bill Murray. Huh? The music is a classic New Order track. Translation: history for hipsters. Crazyometer 3 (out of 5)
