Not to be confused with the artsy electronica of We Are Wolves, Brooklyn pop-punk supernerds We Are Scientists are math-centric and proud of it. Their debut full-length album, With Love and Squalor (out Jan. 10), manages to cram 13 scholarly (one’s called ”Textbook”), yet danceable songs into a number-crunching 36 minutes. But they can be cool, too: ”Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt” sounds like Franz Ferdinand shot out of a fun gun.
