Reviving the old Interview magazine tradition of The Two-Minute Oscars, Seattle Weekly honors the 10 best bite-size screen performances of last year. Included are such gimmes as Ralph Fiennes’ brief but terrifying turn in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (left), as well as performances that deserve not to be overlooked, like Roberta Maxwell’s essential monologue as the mother of Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) in Brokeback Mountain. It’s a great list; if I had drafted it, I’d add Tony Danza, who nails his walk-on as a well-meaning but insensitive TV producer in Crash; Ray Wise as the tormented news anchor in Good Night, and Good Luck; Michael Gambon as a scary crimelord in Layer Cake; William Hurt as a scary crimelord in A History of Violence; and Judi Dench as Judi Dench in Pride & Prejudice. Tell us, PopWatchers, which 2005 bit parts would you reward with a Two-Minute Oscar?
