UPDATE: Residents of New York, you can now breathe a little easier. The Donald says he’s having too much fun with his current projects to consider a run for governor.

Actors who try to sing? I can live with ’em. Athletes who try to act? Hey, I can just ignore ’em. But when celebrities with little or no political experience run for major government offices, it fills me with nameless dread. I mean, I find Ellen DeGeneres pretty darn entertaining, but I wouldn’t trust her to, say, do my taxes or remove my wisdom teeth. Running the state of New York seems at least as important a job. So surely the Republican Party can find someone more qualified than Donald Trump to take on Democratic frontrunner Elliot Spitzer in the state’s gubernatorial race, no? Then again, maybe it’s just me. What do you think, PopWatchers? Would you consider voting for a real-estate titan turned reality-TV star to run your state? Drop your chads in the comments section below.
