I know; I know. I said I’d post this yesterday, but we’re working with a holiday-week skeleton crew over here at PopWatch HQ. It’s like me, Mike, and… a bunch of skeletons. And skeletons are lazier than you’d think they’d be.
So my Christmas present to you was this week’s question apparently because most of you got it right. What do Fred Astaire, Bill Goldberg (a.k.a. Goldberg the wrestler guy), John Goodman, Tom Hanks, and Christopher Plummer have in common? They’ve all played Santa Claus, of course: Astaire did his bowlful of jelly routine in The Man in the Santa Claus Suit; Goldberg embodied a homicidal St. Nick in Santa’s Slay; Goodman voiced the big man in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer; Hanks did his creepy motion-capture thing in The Polar Express (above); and the venerable Plummer played St. Nick in LeVar Burton’s Blizzard.
My Hanukkah present to you is that I won’t piss and moan about the specificity of your answers — even though some were, ahem, lacking. For Kwanzah, I got you all monogrammed mouse-cozies, but my puppy mistook them for animal entrails and ate them all. (He loves him some entrails! But who doesn’t, really?)
Meanwhile, the PopWatch Bullies — who, incidentally, were the first to respond with the correct answer this week — have been totally nice to me ever since I used one of their suggested HeadScratchers. They’ve been all hearts and flowers, and frankly it’s got me a little on edge. I do much better in adversarial relationships (just ask my ex-girlfriend/s!), so I hope they bring the nasty back soon. Talk to you Friday!
