TV Roundup: 'Survivor,' 'The Comeback,' 'Martha,' and 'Tyra'
There are some mornings when I wake up profoundly happy to live in America and have access to digital cable. And this is one of those special, special days, my friends. Consider:
-Martha Stewart’s version of The Apprentice may have flopped, but her weirdly addictive daytime talk-fest looks like it’s getting the greenlight for a second season. Cue a return visit for Liza Minnelli, Ben Vereen, and those rogue crayfish.
-It looks like Tyra Banks’ daytime show will be back for the 2006-2007 season as well, which is good, because it’s important she have a forum to set the record straight about her natural breasts.
-The next season of Survivor, filming in Panama, promises to mix up the tribes in a new way, and will feature a small island to which various players will be banished at different points of the game. You thought Jamie was paranoid surrounded by his backstabbing tribemates? Just imagine him after a week of solitary confinement and near starvation. Awesome.
-And finally, my favorite show of 2005, The Comeback, is coming to DVD, according to E! columnist Kristin Veitch. I know this means I should book an appointment with my therapist right now to help me prevent myself from losing entire weekends to Valerie Cherish marathons, but instead, I think we should all join hands and chant: ”Note to self, I need to see that!”
Which of the above TV news tidbits has you most excited?
