Box Office Bull's-eye: Thanksgiving Results
Let’s start by pondering the fact that 3,789 people voted inthe Nov. 21-24 round of our weekly prediction game (nearly TWICE as many as everbefore). And if that isn’t enough toimpress you about the dedication of EW readers, then consider Susie Edwards — the top player who answered every multiple-choice question correctlyand was extremely close with her prediction for Rent‘s box office total during the holiday weekend. (She predicted$21 million, but it only earned $18 million.)
Seven other players followed Susie’s lead by missing onlyone of the seven questions. For instance, Frank Myers and Kathleen Ponder nailedRent’s exact box-office take and slipped up only when predicting one of the top three movies.
As it turns out, choosing the movie thatwould take the No. 3 slot was the week’s trickiest task. That movie, Yours, Mine, and Ours, wasn’t one of the options we provided. Soplayers had to be smart enough to select “None of the above.” Alas, there were 87 competitors who missed that question, and every otherquestion too. So, as theysay, that leaves plenty of room for improvement. Why wait? Play this week’s game and be the first to nab that $50 gift certificate, unlessSusie Edwards gets it first.
(Note: Sorry to everyone who tried to vote Monday a.m. andcouldn’t. We had a tech problem that hassince been corrected).
