-Dustin Hoffman wants to be a better divorced dad, a la Kramer vs. Kramer, only this time, he’s ending his second marriage and his kids are grown, in the comedy Father Knows Less.
-Paramount unveils next year’s slate to Variety, saying it wants more comedies. First up: a Jackass sequel.
–Kissing Jessica Stein‘s Jennifer Westfeldt lampoons modern courtship rituals again in Ira & Abby: A Divorce Story, which she’s also writing and producing.
-Following in Ingmar Bergman’s footsteps, Kenneth Branagh is directing a big-screen version of Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute. Funnyman Stephen Fry is writing the English libretto.
-Beastie Boys have a fan-shot concert film (they handed out 50 handheld cameras to concertgoers at their Madison Square Garden show on Oct. 9), aptly titled Awesome: I F—in’ Shot That, due in the spring.
