Here comes another simulated live appearance by Ashlee Simpson. On Friday, she’s paying a virtual visit to Habbo Hotel, a teen community site whose members represent themselves as cute little digital avatars. She’s following in the footsteps of Gorillaz, who visited a few months ago.

Ah, we keed because we love. After all, Ashlee’s I Am Me debuted at the top of the Billboard album chart this week, selling 220,000 CDs and beating new entries by Rod Stewart, Martina McBride, Stevie Wonder, Houston rapper Bun-B, and Depeche Mode. News of her chart success has sent poor Fox News columnist Roger Friedman into an apocalyptic gloom. Let’s hope he doesn’t confront Ashlee on Habbo’s red carpet and cause her some virtual embarrassment.
