-Wesley Snipes (left) and Jean Claude Van Damme are teaming up as a boxer and his bodyguard in The Hard Corps — get it? (The story is at Production Weekly — click on ”october twenty-six.”) Is this a step up for JCVD, or a step down for Snipes?

-Another drug movie for Johnny Depp — this time, it’s heroin, in Shantaram.

-It’s love among the obsessive-compulsive set for Ryan Reynolds and Emily Mortimer in the romantic comedy Chaos Theory.

-Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) turned down one comic book movie this year (X-Men 3), but he’ll direct Neil Gaiman’s Stardust.

-Love interest for all seasons Aaron Eckhart (The Missing, Possession, Erin Brockovich) is joining Catherine Zeta-Jones in the Hollywood version of Germany’s Mostly Martha. He’ll play a fellow chef who helps Zeta-Jones heat up her kitchen.

Two more films for one of the performers on EW.com’s recent list of 10 Underrated Actors, Chiwetel Ejiofor. He’ll costar with Clive Owen and Julianne Moore in the sci-fi epic Children of Men, to be directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), then segue to Tonight at Noon, a New York-set indie drama with Lauren Ambrose, Rutger Hauer, and Connie Nielsen.
