Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, Apple, can breathe a sigh of relief: Somebody else is going to take the heat for a while. Lord of War‘s Nicolas Cage, 41, and wife Alice, 21, welcomed baby boy (and Superman namesake) Kal-El Cage on Oct. 3 in NYC. It is the first child for Alice and the second for Nicolas, who has a non-Kryptonian son from a previous relationship…. The King of Queens Kevin James, 36, and his wife, actress Steffiana, 30, welcomed baby girl Sienna-Marie on Sept. 30 in L.A. She is the first child for the couple.

SEPARATION

THEFT

A truck carrying samples from designer Anna Sui’s spring 2006 collection was robbed on Sept. 19 in NYC. Police are investigating the crime (which will reportedly cost Sui in the high seven figures). While the designer and her team are attempting to re-create the lost samples, they say it is unlikely they’ll be ready in time for buyer presentations in the U.S. and Europe in the next few weeks.

AILING

Jane Fonda, 67, was forced to skip the premiere of a documentary about her late ex-husband Roger Vadim in St. Tropez on Oct. 3 due to hip and back problems. Fonda, who underwent hip- replacement surgery this summer, was treated at a hospital and released the same day…. Band Nine Inch Nails postponed its Sept. 30 performance in Oakland due to drummer Jerome Dillon’s unspecified heart condition. Dillon is undergoing tests, and a temporary replacement will soon be named. The Oakland concert has been rescheduled for Nov. 19.

COURTS

Rapper Lil Jon filed a $30 million lawsuit on Sept. 26 against LFP (Larry Flynt Productions) and Category 5 Entertainment. Jon claims LFP is illegally using footage of him, shot by Category 5 at a 2004 concert in New Orleans, in a porno flick called Phat Tuesday. LFP did not return phone calls…. Michael Jackson, 47, asked an L.A. court on Oct. 3 to block an arbitration demand from a Germany-based concert promoter over a series of canceled Millennium 2000 concerts. Jackson, who has already been ordered to pay $5.3 million in damages over the concerts, says a settlement agreement precludes any further claims; the promoter was unavailable for comment…. Pete Doherty, 26, lead singer of British group the Baby Shambles and on-again, off-again boyfriend of Kate Moss, was detained by British police for 12 hours on Oct. 2 in Shrewsbury, England. Police dogs had sniffed antinarcotic patches used by Doherty and mistaken them for illegal drugs during a raid at a concert. No charges were filed…. A 39-year-old man was arrested for a minor breach of the peace in Midlothian, England, after reportedly attempting to get an autograph from Tom Hanks, who was on location shooting The Da Vinci Code. The autograph hound was released the same day…. Eddie Murphy’s estranged wife, Nicole, 37, is seeking almost $40,000 from the actor in attorney fees stemming from their divorce proceedings. Murphy, 44, responded by filing a motion on Sept. 27 in L.A. to prove the validity of the couple’s prenuptial agreement, which would render him not liable for payment of her legal expenses.
