Three upcoming movies, PopWatchers, and it’ll cost you a good $30 to catch all of ’em in theaters.
Are they worth it?
Trailers work it. I put my thing down, flip it, and reverse it. (Sorry, I’m overcaffienated). Anyhoo…
All the King’s Men (Roll over the photo boxes at the bottom of the Nip/Tuck page to find the trailer in the “Sony Lounge” area) You know a movie’s got a stellar cast when the trailer treats Emmy winner James Gandolfini like one of its J.V. players, slapping the ”Academy Award Winner” or ”Academy Award Nominee” labelon Sean Penn (above right), Kate Winslet, Anthony Hopkins, Patricia Clarkson, andJude Law (above left). Despite all those first-rate names attached to thisadaptation of Robert Penn Warren’s tale of a rural politician corruptedby his rise to power, there’s a little too much of Penn shoutingbehind a microphone (accompanied by a swelling score) to get meexcited. Let’s hope a second (and better) trailer is forthcoming.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ”Everything’s going to change now, isn’t it?” That’s the question posed at the end of this new trailer for the fourth Harry Potter film, but one thing seems pretty consistent: It looks wickedly exciting, with spectacular camerawork and nifty special effects. All that and what appears to be more sweet young love? Bring it on!
Derailed Quick: Name a movie-star pairing that could rival the sheer sexual magnetism of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. What’s that? You’re going with Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston? Good call, people. Watch the Closer dude kiss the Friends chick ”without ever touching her lips” in the trailer for this adultery thriller. I can’t remember the last good romantic suspense movie I saw (maybe Birthday Girl?), but this one looks pretty promising.
