Exposure (Book - Talitha Stevenson)

A-

In her second novel, Talitha Stevenson plunges us into the emotional glacier of the Langford household, which maintains its chill even in the midst of ruin: London barrister and family head Alistair is involved in a scandal that reveals his adult life has been built on lies, twentysomething son Luke is self-destructing over an affair gone wrong, and long-suffering wife and mother Rosalind is, as always, stalwartly enduring. As the characters’ stories unfold, Exposure might be merely a stifling tale about an English family who chat about rose gardens while contemplating suicide and murder. But under Stevenson’s masterful and merciful hand, the novel ultimately turns into an unapologetic love story, reminding us first of our fragility and then of the ability to forgive.
