What is your favorite unintentionally funny performance?
What is your favorite unintentionally funny performance? — Jason Sweet
If I didn’t think the Babs Police would come after me, I’d say that Barbra Streisand’s exertions as the goddess-shrink who treats Nick Nolte in The Prince of Tides win the Golden Guffaw award. (And I’d give extra credit to the couple’s hilariously posed lovemaking scene.) But with personal safety at stake, I’ll go with the reliable Rod Steiger in The Specialist. Generalists might argue that Steiger was eligible for the prize in just about anything he appeared in post-Amityville Horror. But connoisseurs celebrate the actor’s odiferous Latino-mob-boss accent (joo…joo BASStarrrr!) and voracious scenery chewing, saluting Steiger as alpha chewer in a toothy cast that includes Sylvester Stallone, James Woods, and Eric Roberts.
