In theory, the combination of finger-picking guitar whiz Leo Kottke and ex-Phish bass virtuoso Mike Gordon constitutes the sort of mini super-session musos dream about. The only problem: Not everyone’s a muso, and much like their prior collaboration (2002’s Clone), Sixty Six Steps mostly feels like above-average elevator music for hipsters. Best track: their laid-back meditation on Aerosmith’s ”Sweet Emotion.”
