At last, we Yanks get to hear what all the fuss is about. Crazy Frog, which turned a cellphone ringtone into a single that kept Coldplay from reaching the top of the chart in the U.K. this summer, has an album out, Crazy Hits, which EW music critic David Browne calls ”a set of generic remakes of dance-club hits… with those intentionally irritating faux-frog blurts springing up every so often.” More to Browne’s liking is Timbaland’s all-ringtone CD The Getaway. Plus, Lil Jon is working on an album of call signals too, aptly enough, for a company called Bling Tones.

Are these micro-sized tunes the next big thing, or are they a trend best put on hold?
