Chapter V

B

This Massachusetts band may be nü-metal’s least flamboyant: You won’t find Staind wearing face paint or costumes, and you’ll never hear Aaron Lewis rap. Fortunately, their self-seriousness comes with a melodic tenderness that’s rare in the genre. In ”Schizophrenic Conversations,” a typically titled cut from their fifth CD, Chapter V, Lewis moans about being blown away by a storm over strummed acoustic guitars that actually work up a bit of a breeze.
