Let’s all jump in the way-back machine this weekend and enjoy the pop-culture bounty of years past:

1974 A Good Times marathon on TV Land? Dyn-o-mite! (Sorry, but as an entertainment journalist, I’m contractutally bound to use J.J.’s catchphrase whenever discussing this show. By the way, did anyone catch Jimmie Walker on Letterman’s Late Show the other night? Hilarious, in a grumpy-old-man kind of way.) It’s 48 hours of the classic sitcom, starting at 6 a.m. Saturday, before the show joins the TV Land prime-time lineup at 10 p.m. starting Monday.

1993 Perry Farrell… The Pixies… Weezer… Billy Idol? Yep, you can still revisit the heyday of alt-rock at Lollapalooza, the erstwhile traveling rock fest that has been concentrated this year into a single weekend event in Chicago’s Grant Park. (There are also some top newer acts, including The Killers and Death Cab for Cutie.) It’s not too late to get tickets, via the Lollapalooza website. The rest of us can watch it via webcast here.

1994 See Last Days, the Gus Van Sant pic about how Kurt Cobain may have spent his final hours. Can’t be any more surreal than The Island.

2002 Prepare for Joss Whedon’s Serenity (in theaters Sept. 30) by watching Firefly, which premieres tonight on SciFi (7 p.m.). The cable channel will air the entire series, including episodes that never aired during the space Western’s abbreviated run on Fox.
