The film you loved as a child that now appears awful

What film that you loved as a child now appears awful as an adult? — Justin Castillo
Change child to teenager and awful to silly and I’ve got the answer right here: 1962’s David and Lisa, which came out in the high Freudian era of the early ’60s and launched the careers of then newcomers Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey) and Janet Margolin (Annie Hall). There was a time I couldn’t get enough of movies about emotionally disturbed teens and sensitive shrinks; there was also a time I couldn’t get enough of any movie with a character named Lisa, let alone a Lisa who is ”a pearl of a girl.” Now I’ve had my fill. (Still great: Howard Da Silva as the sensitive shrink.)
