''Entourage'''s love of brand names smells fishy -- Show creater Doug Ellin says he gets no money for his prominent placements of Apple, Barney's, and Van Cleef & Arpels
Entourage‘s second season has featured several celebrity guest stars (Bob Saget, Amanda Peet), but the most distracting cameos have been made by brand names like Apple, Barneys, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Turtle returns Vince’s Macintosh computer in order to finance expensive pajamas at Barneys; E buys Van Cleef jewels to compensate for cheating on his girl. What gives? ”Honestly, [the brands are] all my favorites,” says the show’s creator Doug Ellin, who adds that Entourage receives no money for the placements. ”I pick stuff that I use or people in the world use. We try to make it realistic.” Fair enough, but we’ll really get suspicious if Vince starts doing iPod commercials.
