Go J.J.! It's your birthday!

Have you taken a moment today to wish J.J. Abrams a happy 39th birthday? Yeah, I know he didn’t tell us what’s in the hatch, and he’s got the spotty fourth season of Alias to answer for, but have a little faith in the man’s storytelling skills.

Here’s three reasons I’ll be toasting my favorite TV writer-producer with a pitcher of Bad Robots tonight.

1) Eight words: ”We’re going to have to take the boy.” Frickin’ genius.
2) His taut, terrific screenplay for Joy Ride. (Add it to your Netflix list if you haven’t seen it yet.)
3) My favorite TV theme song ever, ”New Version of You,” composed and performed by the b-day boy himself.
