Fast-paced and deliciously trampy, Adored is from a first-time novelist who clearly hopes to recapture the popularity and style of trashy reads like Shirley Conran’s Lace. She succeeds here in the tale of Siena McMahon, the gorgeous but spoiled granddaughter of a Hollywood movie legend who longs for a film career at any cost — even if it means losing her rightful inheritance and the love of a good (though temperamental) blond Englishman. Repressed first wives, gold-digging mistresses, slimy film producers — Adored has it all. The only thing missing is the inevitable miniseries deal.
