Mustworthiness Typecasting be damned — the bad-girl daughter of Italian horror director Dario Argento couldn’t turn down the chance to hunt monsters for George A. Romero in June’s Land of the Dead, the long-awaited fourth installment in the zombie master’s famed series.

All in the Famiglia In 1978, Papa Argento collaborated with Romero on Dawn of the Dead. Says Asia (pronounced AH-zee-ah): ”George was kind of part of the family.”

Monster Brawl ”My character, she’s a fighter, and I always do my own stunts,” she boasts. ”There’s a scene where I’m trapped in an arena with two zombies, and I’m kicking their asses. That was fun!”

Kin Dread ”I find zombie movies the scariest. You don’t want to think about a loved one coming back wanting to eat you.”

On Her Must List Sofia Coppola, who directs Argento in the period drama Marie Antoinette. (Without a zombie to slay, Argento suits up as one of the queen’s rivals.) ”She put together this huge movie and [stayed] so sure of herself. In Italy, I’m the only young woman director, and that’s a pity,” laments Argento, who helmed 2004’s The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things. ”The fact that she exists gives me hope.”
