Boston Red Sox get ''Queer Eye'' treatment. Don't worry: Star player Johnny Damon keeps his trademark locks

Looks like Carson Kressley won’t be playing Delilah to Johnny Damon’s Sampson. Indeed, while Bravo’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy descended on the spring-training dugout of World Series champs Boston Red Sox this week, Damon’s trademark long locks sat on the bench during the makeover segments.

According to WCVB-TV in Boston, Damon is under contract to keep his hair long as part of a publicity blitz for the book he’s releasing in April. Not to say the star centerfield wasn’t game for some tzujing; despite a reported bout of cellulitis, Damon joined teammates Kevin Millar, Doug Mirabelli, Tim Wakefield, and Jason Varitek for the official Fab Five treatment, which will be part of the June 7 Queer Eye season premiere.

The Boston Herald reported that the Queer Eye cast showed up for the Red Sox’ s 9-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Fort Myers, Fla., yesterday, with Kressley donning a pink Red Sox uniform, and the five team members who received makeovers giving a mini-fashion show. Anyone want to take a bet on the likelihood of Carson making a joke about pitchers and catchers during the episode?
