Nam. 1960-something. The U.S. troops are rabbits, and they launch treacherous assaults on Viet Cong feline troops. An absurdist parody of war? An homage to the great WWII fable Maus? Writer-artist Motofumi Kobayashi eschews cheesy antics and weighty metaphors for something far more satisfying: meticulously researched historical details that crescendo into combat so explosive it’d make Rambo blush. Still, we’d be lying if we didn’t cop to giggling at the sight of bunnies who booze, cuss, and brandish M16s.
