Trend alert! Scarlett Johansson will host the Sci-Tech Oscars, following on the respective heels of geekbait Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, and Charlize Theron.

Indeed, it seems only the comeliest Hollywood starlets need apply for the position of emcee for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Scientific and Technical Awards. Johansson will also introduce the live Sci-Tech segment of the Feb. 27 Oscar telecast.

The honorees at the Feb. 12 Sci-Tech ceremony will include the creators of two camera-crane systems. Maybe Johansson can pick up some research contacts for her role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible III.
