Before Million Dollar Baby, in which Clint Eastwood plays Dunn, a bullheaded pugilist who adopts Maggie (Hilary Swank), a hard-luck scrapper with father issues, there was 1971’s The Million Dollar Duck (a.k.a. $1,000,000 Duck), in which Dean Jones plays Dooley, an airheaded scientist who adopts Charley, a hard-pluck quacker with feather issues. Here, some other eerie similarities.

Million Dollar Duck

With the help of a low-key African-American lab assistant, Charley is transformed into a layer, providing Dooley with his golden eggs.

Charley runs like a fowl and quacks.

Features direction from the legend who also brought you the befuddling The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again.

If his career doesn’t take flight, Duck’s titular star could eventually be reduced to working with Aflac.

VS.

Million Dollar Baby

With the help of a low-key African-American gym assistant, Maggie is transformed into a player, reminding Dunn of his golden days.

Maggie runs afoul of her opponent and cracks.

Features direction from the legend who also brought you the beloved Pale Rider.

If her career doesn’t take flight, Baby‘s titular star could eventually be reduced to working with Ben Affleck.
