Who Killed the Zutons?

B+

Combining saxophone, hand claps, cowbells, and some rockabilly riffage, this Liverpudlian five-piece plays blithe blues boogies for the tumbleweeds set. Singer David McCabe growls like a freaked-out Robert Plant over Abi Harding’s syncopated sax on the thumpin’ shout-alongs ”Dirty Dancehall” and ”Pressure Point.” But Who Killed the Zutons? is not all snarls and squeals: On ”Not a Lot to Do,” Harding’s soulful fluttering adds a delicate beauty, rounding out a swell debut.
