Can’t wait until the next season of American Idol starts in January? Fox feels your pain and is preparing an Idol fix, in the form of a holiday special to air the night before Thanksgiving. All three winners to date — Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, and Fantasia Barrino — will appear on the one-hour show, called Kelly, Ruben and Fantasia: Home for the Holidays, airing on Nov. 24. Not only does the special come just in time to give ratings-poor Fox a much-needed sweeps month boost, but also just in time for the release of new CDs by all three. J Records is due to release Ruben’s Christmas disc, I Need an Angel, in early November. Fantasia’s CD is due on Nov. 23, and Kelly has one coming out on Nov. 30. So you can get your holiday shopping done relatively early.
