In the name of love, won’t someone give U2 their songs back? The Irish superstars are worried that tunes from their upcoming new album will leak after a CD disappeared following a photo shoot in France. ”A large slice of two years work lifted via a piece of round plastic. It doesn’t seem credible but that’s just what happened, and it was my CD,” guitarist The Edge told the band’s website, U2.com. The album is tentatively due this fall.

French police are investigating the loss, according to Reuters. ”The recording of this album had been going so well,” the band’s manager, Paul McGuinness, told the wire service. ”The band is so excited about its release. It would be a shame if unfinished work fell into the wrong hands.” Plus, The Edge would become very unpopular with his bandmates.
