Maria Mena, an 18-year-old half-Norwegian singer-songwriter, represents the umpteenth coming of Alanis Morissette and possesses, by far, the uncanniest vocal similarities to the Canadian song-bird. More impressively, Mena nails the quality most responsible for her elder’s initial success: She’s got hooks on White Turns Blue you could hum for days. From the orchestral power-pop of ”Just a Little Bit” to the confessional thunder of ”Take You With Me,” Mena delivers galvanizing melodies, keeping the clunky wordplay Morissette is so fond of to a minimum.
