In the end, the nice guy finished first. Though he didn’t win the competition on ”Survivor: All-Stars,” Rupert Boneham will take home $1 million anyway, thanks to fans who voted him the consolation jackpot on Thursday’s ”America’s Tribal Council” poll. The shaggy-bearded Boneham beat rivals Tom Buchanan, Colby Donaldson, and ”Boston Rob” Mariano, who will likely get a share of the prize won Sunday by his fiancée, Amber Brkich. Some 38 million ”Survivor” fans participated in the ”American Idol”-esque vote. They also voted Brkich the sexiest Survivor, while Donaldson was named the hottest male contestant.

That extra million-dollar giveaway was a canny way for CBS to extend the ”Survivor” contest one extra night during a ratings sweeps month. And we still may not have seen the last of this group of players. Brkich and Mariano noted that they’d been fielding network offers to televise their wedding. So we can expect another Trista-and-Ryan-type spectacle from the couple, Mariano said, ”if the price is right.”
