Gunshots ring out during J-Kwon video shoot. Four bullets from an unknown assailant hit police van during the ''Tipsy'' rapper's midday shoot
Someone took the phrase ”video shoot” too literally during filming Tuesday afternoon of a music clip for rapper-of-the-moment J-Kwon, whose recent release ”Hood Hop” has hovered in the top 10 of the Billboard album chart. According to the Associated Press, an unknown assailant driving past the outdoor set in St. Louis fired four shots into a nearby police van. No one was injured; the van was unoccupied at the time. It was unclear who might have fired the shots, as the ”Tipsy” rapper’s hometown visit had drawn hundreds of onlookers and tied up traffic. The crowd scattered after the shots were fired
Police chief Joe Mokwa told AP he didn’t believe that the shooter had specifically targeted the cops, saying rather that ”some erratic rounds” had hit the van. Investigators hoped to use the video footage to identify suspects. The 18-year-old rapper (real name: Jerrell Jones) told reporters that the gunshots were not part of the video and were not fired by anyone in his entourage, and that he would cooperate with investigators.
