Halle Berry wants to make official the end of her Storm-y relationship with estranged husband Eric Benet. On Monday, seven months after the couple separated, the ”Catwoman” star filed divorce papers (which are posted online at the website for TV’s ”Celebrity Justice”) in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

Berry’s previous marriage, a four-year union with Cleveland Indians outfielder David Justice, also ended in divorce, in 1996. She married R&B singer Benet in January 2001. Three months later, they filed a $5 million lawsuit against The Star over a tabloid story that alleged that the couple was already on the rocks. At the time of Berry’s historic Best Actress Oscar win in March 2002 for ”Monster’s Ball,” rumors circulated that Benet had been cheating on her, rumors that Berry seemed to confirm eight months later in an Essence magazine interview, saying: ”During the period of my most significant public success — the Academy Awards — my private life faced a staggering crisis.” However, she added, she and Benet were in therapy together, and his willingness to address their problems made her ”love him all the more.” But last fall, when she announced their split, she said, ”Eric and I have had marital problems for some time now and have tried to work things out together. However, at this point, I feel we need time apart to reevaluate our union.” Regarding the final split, Berry attorney Neal Hersh told ”Celebrity Justice”: ”So far the divorce is amicable, and I expect it to stay that way.”
