Who knew there were so many Frank Miller fans in Hollywood? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the forthcoming adaptation of Miller’s graphic novel series ”Sin City” has drawn at least a few of following actors: Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy, Kate Bosworth, Mickey Rourke, and Jaime King. Director Robert Rodriguez (”Spy Kids”) has cast at least some of them and made offers to the rest; also on his wish list are Benicio Del Toro and Maria Bello. In the movie, scheduled to go into production shortly for Miramax’s Dimension arm, Rodriguez’s ensemble would play a diverse group of characters involved in three intertwining plots set in Miller’s corrupt comic-book town.

In another Miramax comic book project, ”Jersey Girl” director Kevin Smith is hoping to cast ”Good Girl” actor Jake Gyllenhaal as the good guy in ”The Green Hornet.” According to the Reporter, Smith has talked to Gyllenhaal about the character of Brett Reid (newspaper publisher by day, crimefighter by night) and put him at the top of his list. Gyllenhaal almost got to play a superhero last year when Tobey Maguire was rumored to be on the verge of dropping out of the ”Spider-Man” sequel. (Playing Peter Parker would have cast Gyllenhaal opposite real-life girlfriend Kirsten Dunst.) No word yet on who’ll play Kato, the sidekick role that made Bruce Lee into a star on the TV version nearly 40 years ago. The studio will get to see Gyllenhaal’s action-movie chops when ”The Day After Tomorrow,” the latest disaster movie from Roland Emmerich (”Godzilla,” ”Independence Day”), opens on May 28.
