The Simon & Garfunkel reunion tour ended last month, but it’s still the 1960s inside Art Garfunkel’s limousine. So say police in upstate New York, who arrested the 62-year-old singer on pot possession charges on Saturday afternoon as he rode in a car through Hurley, N.Y. According to The Daily Freeman in nearby Kingston, a state trooper said he stopped the limo for speeding, then smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. The trooper said he found in Garfunkel’s jacket pocket a small amount of an herb that was not parsley, sage, rosemary, or thyme.

A state police spokesman said Garfunkel told the trooper he was a celebrity, though the officer didn’t realize who he’d arrested until later. Garfunkel faces a court date of Jan. 28, though he is allowed to send a lawyer in his place or respond by mail. The charge is a violation that carries a $100 fine. There’s been no comment so far from Garfunkel’s reps at his label, Legacy Recording.
