Liza’s back! Again! And Ms. Minnelli’s plotting her A.D. (After David) era with two jazz-hands-worthy ventures. This fall, she’ll appear on four episodes of the Fox comedy Arrested Development, playing a widowed socialite who suffers from vertigo (insert Betty Ford joke here). But first, she’s launched Liza for M.A.C, a collection of lipstick, lip gloss, and, natch, false eyelashes based on her own makeup regimen.

Why M.A.C?

M.A.C president John Demsey told me what a big fan he was, and I said, ”You’re kidding!” and dumped out my entire purse on the table. Everything in there was M.A.C! I also told him that his eyelashes could use some help. [Cackles wildly]

His eyelashes?

Your lashes are very important. If your eyes are the windows to the soul, then these lashes are the shutters.

You were in NYC for the Aug. 14 blackout. Were you able to apply your makeup in the dark?

Honey, you never know when the lights are gonna go on! You’d better have your lipstick and your lashes with you at all times!
