Shannen Doherty has signed a deal to star in a sitcom, according to the Hollywood Reporter, in which she will play a woman who everyone thinks is a bitch. Sound like anyone we know?

Doherty has long been dogged by rumors of difficult and diva-ish behavior, especially after her departures from ”Beverly Hills, 90210” and ”Charmed.” She’ll capitalize on that reputation in the untitled show from aptly named producer Pariah TV. ”The idea has some reference to her own life and her own reputation about a girl who’s known for being tough and bad but actually is a lot softer and maybe smarter and nicer than people realize,” Pariah production cochair Jessica Borsiczky told the Reporter. Borsiczky said she got the idea after Doherty shot a guest appearance on ”The Ortegas,” a Pariah sitcom tentatively scheduled to debut at midseason on Fox. ”She was very funny. We think that her charisma comes across a lot more with comedy than anything else. We think it’s a great way to showcase her.”

Doherty is no stranger to comedy, having costarred in the movies ”Heathers” and ”Mallrats.” Currently, she’s hosting the prank show ”Scare Tactics” on cable’s Sci-Fi Channel.
