It’s Ted Nugent’s world, we only live in it. VH1 has announced that the Detroit-born rocker and hunting advocate will be hosting his very own two-hour reality TV special on Oct. 5. ”Surviving Nugent” will challenge seven unlikely candidates to compete in events of Nugent’s choosing to win cash and prizes.

The show’s competitors seem hand-picked to chafe under Nugent’s right-wing, pro-meat approach to life. They include a vegan, a gay man, a New Yorker and a so-called sex kitten.

This isn’t Nugent’s first foray into the wild world of TV. He’s also the host of the hunting show “Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild” on the Outdoor Channel. While he continues to record (he had a 1977 hit with “Cat Scratch Fever”), he’s better known for his involvement on the NRA’s Board of Directors, his Detroit morning radio show, and his cookbook, “Kill It and Grill It.” Let’s hope there are no recipes for vegans in there.
