Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly, 32, gave birth to a baby boy, her first child with husband, actor Paul Bettany, Aug. 5. Connelly also has a 6-year-old son, Kai, from a previous marriage…. August 3 wasn’t any given Sunday for actor Bill Bellamy, 38, and his wife, model Kristen: That day they welcomed their first child together, Bailey Ivory-Rose Bellamy in Los Angeles.


Here’s one kid who won’t be staying in the picture. Leslie Ann Woodward, 34, filed for divorce from producer Robert Evans, 73, Aug. 8 in L.A. It was the sixth marriage for the Hollywood veteran, who wed the former Versace model last November…. Actress Raquel Welch (right), 62, and her fourth husband, restaurateur Richard Palmer, have called it quits after four years together. A rep called the split ”amicable.”


Total recall — or recoil? Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, 56, declared his candidacy for California governor Aug. 6 on NBC’s The Tonight Show. The next day, NBC announced that news correspondent and Dateline contributing anchor Maria Shriver, 47, would take a leave to avoid any conflict with her husband’s campaign.


Radio-show host Howard Stern, 54, settled his $10 million lawsuit against ABC and the producers of Are You Hot? Aug. 5 in L.A. The shock jock, who filed the suit in March, had accused the creators of stealing the ”Evaluators” concept from his show and spoiling a deal he had for a similar cable show. Details of the settlement were undisclosed. ABC would not comment…. Hollywood legend Omar Sharif, 71, star of Doctor Zhivago and author of a syndicated bridge column, made his mark in another way Aug. 5. According to the AP, the actor received a one-month suspended jail term, a $1,700 fine for violence toward a police officer, and was ordered to pay $340 in damages to the official after he’d head-butted him in a French casino in July. Sharif could not be reached for comment…. Thomas Guest and Damon Jackson are suing Sean ”P. Diddy” Combs, alleging that security guards at the rap star’s studio attacked them without cause. The two were visiting Combs, whom Guest claims is an old friend. Each is seeking $25 million in damages. P. Diddy’s reps have called the suit ”ridiculous.”


On July 29, chef Rocco DiSpirito of NBC’s The Restaurant was slapped with six health code violations: flies in the prep area, an unsheltered light in the fridge, and moist cloths with food particles. ”I take health code violations very seriously,” DiSpirito said. A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22.


Movie critic Roger Ebert, 61, will undergo radiation treatment in late August for a cancerous tumor on his salivary gland. The critic will skip the upcoming Telluride Film Festival and shorten his stay at September’s Toronto International Film Festival.


Writer William Woolfolk, 86, whose work included novels, nonfiction, stories for comic-book characters such as Captain Marvel, and a stint writing TV’s The Defenders, July 20, in Syracuse, N.Y., of congestive heart failure…. Reporter and author Robert Donovan, 90, who had a five-decade career in newspapers, and whose 1961 book PT 109 chronicled President John F. Kennedy’s war experiences, Aug. 8, in St. Petersberg, Fla., from a stroke.
