Police are protecting a friend of Run-DMC DJ Jam Master Jay who might be able to identify his murderers, according to the New York Daily News. While sitting at the front desk of the Hollis, Queens, recording studio where Jay was shot, the friend appears to have seen the killers enter the building, the Daily News reported.

Meanwhile, police arrested 20-year-old Karl Darren Jordan this week on attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting Mizell’s nephew in May. Police haven’t yet determined whether the shootings are linked, Commissioner Raymond Kelly told the News, adding that progress is being made in the case. Mizell was killed last Oct. 30.
