Being newly wed to a beautiful Hollywood actress must not be as tough as we all imagine, given the giddiness and domestic bliss that pervade Brad Paisley’s third album, Mud on the Tires. Unrelenting positivity is usually the bane of contemporary country, but Paisley (Kimberly Williams’ better half) proves it doesn’t have to be gooey, at least if you have the combination of self-deflating levity and neotraditionalist chops that’ve made him the genre’s most charming new star. The Western swing and good cheer are so infectious that the single truly sad tune — ”Whiskey Lullaby,” an alcohol-and-suicide duet with Alison Krauss — strikes a false note, just about the only one among ”Tires”’ 16 tracks.
