In case emcee Chris Rock runs out of J. Lo jokes at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (not likely), there’ll be some musical attractions to keep viewers interested. On the bill, MTV confirmed Tuesday, are this year’s top-selling artist, 50 Cent, and exhibitionist Christina Aguilera. For rock fans, there’s Coldplay (watch for Gwyneth Paltrow in the audience reaction shots) and Good Charlotte.

All the performers are up for multiple awards. 50 Cent is nominated for five Moonman trophies, including Video of the Year (”In Da Club”). The rapper is also up against Good Charlotte for the Viewer’s Choice Award.

Presenting awards, but not singing, will be such personalities as Ashanti, Kelly Clarkson, Sean ”P. Diddy” Combs, Snoop Dogg, Hilary Duff, Evanescence, skateboarder Tony Hawk, rookie NBA star LeBron James, Ludacris, ”Jackass” alum Bam Margera, the Olsen twins, Redman, and David Spade. MTV is expected to name additional performers and presenters in the days ahead. The show airs live on MTV from New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Aug. 28.
