Jay Leno is getting some professional help. NBC announced Monday that the Fab 5 from Bravo’s ”Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” will fly from New York to Burbank next week, where they’ll spend two nights on ”The Tonight Show,” giving Leno and his stage set much-needed makeovers. Of course, while the five style gurus can probably jazz up Leno’s graying hair and his drab furniture, his chin and his edge-free monologue may be beyond help.

The ”Queer Eye” quintet will be guests on ”Tonight” on Aug. 14 and 15. Also, at 10 p.m. on the 14th, NBC will run the hour-long ”Queer Eye” installment that aired on sister channel Bravo on July 29. In the episode the sardonic stylists help straight guy John Bargeman turn his apartment into a love nest to propose to his girlfriend. The evening marks the second primetime showcase for ”Queer Eye.” NBC condensed an earlier episode on July 24 and aired it after ”Will & Grace,” where it held 86 percent of the ”queer eye for the straight gal” sitcom’s audience.

Given ”Queer Eye”’s exploding popularity, maybe NBC should let the Fab 5 invade other parts of its lineup; Tom Brokaw, Matt Lauer, and the haggard crimefighters of ”Law & Order” could probably all do with some sprucing up.
