Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige will spend Sept. 4 hanging out at the Mall with a few hundred thousand of their closest friends. That’s the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and the vast park will be the site of the singers’ NFL season kickoff concert, reports. Fans who can’t make it to the capital will be able to watch the show on ABC that night, followed by NFL’s season-opening game, between the Washington Redskins and the New York Jets.

The NFL staged a similar event last year, a concert in New York’s Times Square featuring Bon Jovi, Enrique Iglesias, Alicia Keys, and Eve. Organizers say the D.C. show may also feature Kid Rock and Aerosmith.

As MTV News reported last week, Spears has already agreed to pay a visit to the Jets’ training camp. She and Blige both have forthcoming albums to promote. Blige’s ”Love & Life” comes out Aug. 26, while Spears’ yet-untitled fourth album is due some time this fall.
