Well, that explains why we haven’t been seeing Chris O’Donnell on screen much lately: He’s been busy making babies. The ”Scent of a Woman” star became a dad for the third time on July 11 when his wife Caroline gave birth to Charles McHugh O’Donnell (7 pounds, 7 ounces) in Los Angeles. ”Mother and baby are doing great,” his publicist announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The ”Batman” sidekick, 33, has been married to his college sweetheart for six years. They have a daughter, Lily, 3, and another son, Christopher Jr., who’s 2.

O’Donnell hasn’t been seen in multiplexes since 2000’s mountaineering thriller ”Vertical Limit,” though he did play against type as an assassin in 2002’s straight-to-video independent film ”29 Palms.” He’s costarring with Liam Neeson and Laura Linney in the currently filming ”Kinsey,” in which he plays an assistant to pioneering sex researcher Alfred Kinsey (Neeson). Looks like O’Donnell’s been doing plenty of research at home.
